💡 Performance Advice for Mechanical Users
AutoCAD Mechanical vs. Inventor:
AutoCAD Mechanical is primarily for 2D design with some limited 3D capabilities.
Autodesk Inventor is for full 3D Parametric Modeling.
Hardware Impact: AutoCAD Mechanical is much lighter on the GPU than Inventor, but it relies heavily on single-core CPU speed to manage large BOMs (Bill of Materials) and "Structure" browsers.
Disk Space Management:
During installation, you can choose which libraries to install (ANSI, ISO, JIS, DIN, etc.).
Recommendation: Only install the standards you actually use. Installing all of them wastes disk space and can slightly slow down the library search function.
Mac Users:
No Native Version: There is no AutoCAD Mechanical for Mac.
Parallels Desktop: Because AutoCAD Mechanical is mostly 2D, it runs very well on Parallels Desktop (Windows VM) on Apple M-Series chips, provided you allocate 8GB–16GB of RAM to the VM.
4K Displays:
Mechanical drawings often contain fine details and small text dimensions. A 4K monitor is highly recommended to reduce eye strain, but you must have the Recommended GPU (8GB VRAM) to drive a 4K screen smoothly without lag.
