Supported Platforms: Alias AutoStudio supports both Windows and macOS.

Input Device: Unlike standard CAD, Alias is primarily used for freeform Class-A surfacing. A Wacom Tablet (Intuos or Cintiq) is considered mandatory for professional use, though a mouse works for basic navigation.

GPU Sensitivity: Alias is extremely sensitive to graphics cards. For Windows, NVIDIA RTX Professional (formerly Quadro) cards are strongly recommended over consumer (GeForce) cards for stability in shading and tessellation.

💡 Performance Advice for Alias Users

1. The "Consumer GPU" Warning (Windows):

   Alias is one of the few Autodesk products where using a "Gaming Card" (GeForce/Radeon RX) often leads to issues. You may experience jagged lines (aliasing) or "tearing" when rotating high-quality surfaces.

   Recommendation: Use NVIDIA RTX A4000 / A5000 / Ada Generation cards.

    

2. Apple Silicon (Mac)Alias 2024/2025 runs well on M1/M2/M3 chips. However, check the Autodesk Knowledge Network for specific limitation notes regarding Apple M-Series, as some specific data translators or legacy shader libraries might run slower than on Intel.

3. Visualization (VRED Interop):Alias AutoStudio is often used in tandem with VRED for rendering. If you plan to run VRED on the same machine, 64 GB RAM and a GPU with 16 GB+ VRAM becomes the absolute minimum requirement.

4. 4K Monitors:

   Class-A surfacing requires inspecting "Highlights" and "Reflection Lines" to ensure surface continuity (G0/G1/G2/G3).

   A high-quality 4K monitor with excellent color accuracy (100% sRGB/AdobeRGB) is standard for Alias users.
